This guide covers keypad-based configuration of the Dahua VTO2023S 2-Wire Hybrid Villa Door Station — including setting the admin password, managing access cards, and managing opening passwords. All configuration is done directly on the door station keypad without requiring a connected monitor or PC.

S Series Only

Keypad software configuration is only supported on the S series door station (e.g. VTO2023S). Non-S series models do not support these functions.

The admin password must be configured before any other function — cards and opening passwords cannot be added until it is set.

How the Keypad Mode Works

  • Enter setting mode Press * — all three indicator lights turn red to confirm you are in setting mode.
  • Successful configuration The indicator light turns blue for 2 seconds then turns off.
  • Failed configuration The indicator turns off and the device beeps. Check the sequence entered and try again.
  • Capacity limits Up to 100 cards and 100 opening passwords can be stored. If either limit is exceeded the device beeps and the entry is rejected.

Admin Password

The admin password is required to add or delete cards and opening passwords. Configure it first before anything else.

Password rules

The admin password must be 4 to 6 digits (numbers only). Once set, pressing *0*admin password* again to set the same password will cause the device to beep — the configuration is invalid. Use the modify sequence below to change it instead.

Set admin password (first time)

  1. 1
    Press *0*admin password*
Example: To set the password to 880088, press *0*880088*

Modify admin password

    Press *0*original password*new password*
Example: Original password 880088, new password 008800 — press *0*880088*008800*

Access Cards

Cards are used to open the door by presenting them to the reader. Up to 100 cards can be stored. The admin password must be configured before adding or deleting cards.

Add a card

  1. 1
Press *1*admin password* to enter card registration mode.
  2. 2
Swipe the card on the reader.
  3. 3
Press * to confirm. The indicator turns blue on success.

Delete all cards

  1. 1
Press *2*admin password* to clear all stored card information.
No admin password set

If you press *1 or *2 without having configured an admin password, the device beeps and exits setting mode. Set the admin password first.

Opening Passwords

Opening passwords allow the door to be unlocked by entering a code on the keypad. Up to 100 different opening passwords can be stored. Passwords must be 4 to 6 digits.

Add an opening password

  1. 1
Press *3*admin password*opening password* to register a new opening password.
Example: Admin password 880088, new opening password 1234 — press *3*880088*1234*
